What's with the Wal-Mart's Parent's Choice Infant Formula?

Thailand has many big, beautiful shopping center malls -in small city like Hatyai or mega-city like Bangkok. It was one of the most stunning things I discovered about Thailand when I arrived in 2006. The artistic quality, diversity of shops, and special features on the top floors like rides, a zoo, and swimming water parks on the roofs of some made them out to be unlike anything I'd seen in the Philippines.

Thailand has almost everything available in American stores. I don't know about other countries. Thailand also has a lot of good and interesting things that don't exist in my country. My parents who visited us here in Thailand twice said the same.

I wonder why Wal-Mart didn't come? But their competitors did: Tesco Lotus (British), Big C (French), Carrefour (French), and Makro (British), racing against each other to offer the biggest stores with the most stuff at the best prices. Maybe you'll ask me why I'm looking for Wal-Mart? It's because of their well-known store brand formula, Parent's Choice Infant Formula. It's only available at Walmart stores throughout the United States. Like all formulas, Parent’s Choice baby formula is nutritionally complete and meets the strict nutritional guidelines determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Families can save $600 a year by switching to Parent's Choice. So, why pay more for those big-name baby formulas? This is a good news for parents out there in USA. I'm still looking for a store brand formula here in Thailand. Remember, store-brand formulas, which are labeled with the names of retail-store brands, are as nutritionally equivalent to name-brand formulas.

Available exclusively at Walmart, special cans of the store brand Parent’s Choice Infant Formula are currently on sale for a limited time only. Parent’s Choice Infant Formula is available as a special buy: parents can buy two cans for just $10!

· Parent’s Choice Milk Infant Formula is on sale in a 15.5 oz (440 gram) can for $5.00 each.
· Parent’s Choice Gentle Infant Formula for babies with fussiness or gas is on sale in a special 12.9 oz (366 gram) can for $5.00 each.

Why bringing up all in a sudden this topic about store-brand formula? This information is now more imporatnt than ever for many mothers because of changes in the Women, Infants and Children program (WIC). As of October 1, 2009, a new WIC initiative aimed at increasing breastfeeding rates among families reallocates funding for all currently provided foods, including infant formula, baby foods, juices, and fresh fruits and vegetables. This program could mean a reduction of up to 20 percent in infant-formula subsidies; parents who previously had most of their formula paid for by WIC may now have to purchase formula on their own . (Well, it doesn't has an effect on me coz I've been purchasing formula on our own eversince:)
With all these facts, don't forget that the mother's milk is still the best!
