Nutrition is a very important aspect for maintaining good health in your dog. Not only can nutrition be the causal factor of certain health disorders it can also help to treat them.
There are many veterinary diets available designed to treat a whole range of problems however I am going to concentrate on three Purina diets.
Purina DRM is a food designed specifically for dogs that suffer from excessive hair loss and dermatosis. The ingredients added are chosen specifically to avoid common food allergens which are found in many dog foods.
There are also treats available which are made with the same DRM formula so your dog is also able to enjoy treats.
Indicators that this food may be suited for your dog include:
- Food intolerances (usually shown by diarrhoea, rashes, excessive itching and hair loss)
- Atopic dermatitis (excessive scratching, sneezing, hair loss and the formation of scabs)
- Flea bite allergy dermatitis (lesions, hair loss and self trauma seen by excessive licking, scratching, biting and rubbing)
Purina JM diet is designed for dogs with mobility disorders to aid movement. Joint Mobility treats are also available to provide extra support for your dog. Joint problems gradually worsen over time therefore dietary management can help to slow the progression of the deterioration.
Common signs of joint problems include:
- Appears stiff when walking
- Reluctance to climb stairs
- Finds it difficult to stand or lie down
- Slow gait
The Purina CN diet is perfect for helping your dog when in recovery from illness. It is designed to help replace the nutrients lost during the illness and helps rebuild strength with its high energy content. It is also highly palatable which is important as during and after illness appetite is usually lost and needs to be built back up.
It is important that whatever health disorder your pet has or the illness they are recovering from that you discuss with your vet the best diet to help manage the condition. They will be able to also advise you on the feeding guideline so you can be sure that your dog is receiving all of the nutrients required.
When switching your dog’s food you should introduce the new food gradually over a period of five to ten days to avoid digestive upset and reduce the chances of your dog rejecting the food as this gives them time to get used to the new texture and taste.

I so agree with Purina, they have healthy food supplements which based on knowing a dog owner who had a Labrador who had been 14 years old now. Usually, Labrador doesn’t last that old but she eventually make it over 4 years more. So, I always recommend this product as well.
dogs or any pets are part of the family so they too should have good health not just the care taker
Your dog is so lucky to have you as his master because you are taking good care of him if you have one, by giving these products to him. I so agree that if we decided to have them as our pet, we should do our best to protect them disease and illness.
